Dr Anniebesant School in Hoshangabad was started in the year of 1985 as a school for poor and middle class family. The school was founded by Mr Pritish Chandra Dutta, an active freedom fighter (Goa Movement), and renouned Criminal Lawyer along with her wife Mrs Arati Dutta an social activist.
In 2009, the school celebrated Silver Jubilee. Many other sister organization where started as Dr. Anniebesant Special (MR) School, Sangeet Academy, Samarth Vihar (Originally Vikalap Vihar - Residential Hostle). Many student who graduated from this school have achieved respectable position in their career and life, Its is a birth place of many IAS, IPS, Collectors and Politician.
In 2002, a new chapter was started with the addition of Dr Anniebesant Special (MR) School for Mentally Retarded Children, It was again the first in the Hoshangabad-Itarsi District. The school has been providing selfless and dedicated services to this segment of society and tried best to give them the opportunity to carve a space in the this society by imparting them with skills and helping them get all the benefits provided by the Govt of India.
